We are all for women stepping up and wanting to support their man, but going half on an engagement ring is just soooooo wrong. Cristina Seals, 28, always dreamed of a giant rock, but she chose to split the tab and downsize to a more modest .75-carat solitaire when longtime beau Jonathan Del Rosario was ready to tie the knot.
“I didn’t want him to go into debt to try and buy me this grand ring,” says the Bay Ridge resident.
They went halfsies on the ring, sharing the bliss of marriage and a price tag of roughly $4,000.
“We’ve been together for seven years, we lived together for seven years, we’ve paid the bills together for seven years, we have a daughter, and we have a joint account,” she says. “Why should he have to pay for this himself?”
